Can we rally for them? 🩷

We urgently need your help!

Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue in Cincinnati just saved three dogs and sent out a heartbreaking plea (see below). Can we rally for them?

We've stood by them before, and now they need us more than ever. Their work is vital, and it must continue.

Like so many rescues, Louie's Legacy is hanging on by a thread. But they don't stop. They act first, pulling animals from danger, saying yes when others can't, and only then do they worry about how to pay for it. Because lives are on the line.

We're hoping to raise about half of what they need. Let's give them the gift of breathing room… and the power to say yes to the next animal who needs them.

Campaign Details

"Over the past three days, Louie’s Legacy has faced one of the most challenging moments in our history. Three animals, each with their own story, personality, and fight to live, have landed in urgent medical crises. The total cost? Over $12,000. We need your help to cover these life-saving bills.

On Monday morning, Butterball, a tiny 6-week-old puppy, had spent the day as a normal, playful little pup. But by evening, something was wrong. His gums were nearly white, and he was completely unresponsive. We rushed him to the ER, where the team worked tirelessly through the night to stabilize him.

Despite their incredible efforts, Butterball passed away around 5 AM Tuesday. Losing such a small, bright life is heartbreaking, but it also reminds us why we fight for every animal in our care.

Just hours later, Butterball’s sibling, Gravy, started showing the same signs of distress. He was rushed into emergency care and remained hospitalized overnight. Yesterday, after thorough testing, we finally have answers: Gravy has coccidia, a dangerous intestinal parasite that puppies are especially vulnerable to due to their fragile immune systems.

Thanks to round-the-clock veterinary care, Gravy is stable and expected to come home today. But the medical bills for these two siblings alone have reached nearly $6,500.

Meanwhile, our shy foster dog, Glitz, managed to slip her harness while exploring outside. We immediately sprang into action posting flyers, reaching out to neighbors, and following every lead, but Glitz was terrified and remained out of reach.

Wednesday, a Good Samaritan found her after she had been hit by a car. At the emergency vet, it was determined that she suffered multiple pelvic fractures. Thanks to our incredible veterinary partners, she underwent emergency surgery today. Even with generous discounts, her care has cost over $6,100.

In just three days, we’ve been hit with over $12,000 in emergency vet bills. These are unexpected costs that could have otherwise been spent on rescuing new animals. But every life matters and we refuse to turn our backs on any animal in need.

We are asking for your help.

Together, we can honor Butterball’s memory, give Gravy a healthy future, and help Glitz recover fully."

Please, let's come together and help them, so that they can help other animals in need.

Here's a wonderful message from our pals at Louie's Legacy:

"Gravy & Glitz Are Home and Healing

Just a few days ago, we shared one of the hardest updates in Louie’s Legacy history — three emergencies in three days, over $12,000 in vet bills, and a devastating loss that broke our hearts.

But today, we’re finally able to share some good news. Thanks to the generosity, love, and compassion of our incredible community and the wonderful GivingGrid supporters, both Gravy and Glitz are home and recovering beautifully in their foster homes!

Gravy, the tiny puppy who spent days in the hospital fighting off coccidia, is now back to being his silly, wiggly self — eating, playing, and soaking up every bit of love his foster family gives him. He’s growing stronger by the day and continues to show the same sweet resilience that makes every puppy worth fighting for.

Glitz, who underwent emergency surgery after being hit by a car, is resting comfortably and healing well. Her foster family reports that she’s already showing her gentle, loving personality again. She has a long road of recovery ahead of her still, but is slowly regaining normal function. She’s officially part bionic dog now, thanks to her plates and screws!

We couldn’t have made it to this moment without you. Your donations, shares, and words of encouragement gave Gravy and Glitz the chance to recover and reminded us what’s possible when we all come together for animals in need.

From all of us at Louie’s Legacy — and from these two brave souls — thank you for standing by us when it mattered most."

    XO,
    GivingGrid and Louie's Legacy

We are so happy to report that Glitz’s pelvic surgery was a success! She’s back in her foster home and doing well. Here are a couple of photos her foster shared.

Of course, she's on crate rest right now...

Thank you so much for rallying to help Louie's Legacy recoup some of their medical expenses for Butterball, Gravy and Glitz. When we shared what we're doing for them, they were absolutely blown away and so grateful. We're now almost 70% of the way to our goal for them, so please continue share and hopefully we'll get there...

Gravy was just discharged from the hospital about an hour ago. Look at those amazing ears! ❤️ They're keeping Glitz in the hospital an extra day because she's been in quite a lot of pain from the surgery.

We'll continue to keep you updated as we get more information from them.

    XO,
GivingGrid on behalf of Louie's Legacy.
