SAVING HOPE ANIMAL RESCUE FUND
Over 57,000 dogs and cats are euthanized each year in North Texas and hundreds of thousands more roam the streets where many die daily from starvation, exhaustion, disease, and road accidents.
Overview
Saving Hope Rescue provides rescue, rehabilitation, foster, and adoption services for dogs and cats that have been abused, abandoned, injured or confiscated. As part of these services, Saving Hope Rescue also provides behavioral enrichment, veterinary, and day-to-day care services as needed, as well as educational outreach in the community. Saving Hope Rescue has a network of over fifty volunteers fosters to help provide these services. Saving Hope Rescue primarily serves Tarrant and surrounding counties.
Since its formation in March of 2018, Saving Hope Rescue has successfully rescued and facilitated the adoption of over 5,000+ dogs and cats, and currently has over 285 dogs and over 200 cats in its care (all in foster homes).
In 2020 Saving Hope Rescue spent approximately $600,000 on veterinary expenses. In 2020 Saving Hope Rescue spayed/neutered over 1,000 dogs and cats, as well as provided other emergency and wellness veterinary services, including heartworm treatments, vaccinations, deworming, and microchipping services.
Proposed Adoption Center and Sanctuary
2020 was not kind to Texas dogs. Dogfighting and animal abuse and neglect are on the rise, and support from law enforcement is down due to budget cuts. Texas also leads the nation in the number of animals euthanized. When coupled with decreased donations as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are struggling to provide the support our animals need. Abused and neglected animals are often traumatized and require extended care and rehabilitation services to be adoptable. These needs have outgrown Saving Hope Rescue’s ability to care for the animals through its network of foster homes.
The Aledo property, which will be converted into an Adoption Center and Sanctuary for homeless animals, will enable Saving Hope Rescue to:
- House dogs and cats in cage-free spaces with limited noise (unlike a shelter environment) and provide high-quality medical care and other necessary services
- Operate a foster and rescue program
- Offer training sessions to the public
- Provide an animal welfare community center for schools to visit
- Provide a facility where events can be held for the public, including educational events regarding spaying, neutering, training, and caring for animals
The Adoption Center and Sanctuary will be open to the public and will welcome volunteers as well as others who simply want to pet and enjoy the animals living on the property. Saving Hope Rescue will continue fostering animals through its network of foster homes.
