By the end of this year, HAAM will have received more than 70,000 requests for help from nearly 15,000 people in need of food, clothing, housing, employment and other essential needs. These people are not strangers. They are not outsiders. They are our neighbors. They belong to us, and half of them are children and seniors. That's right -- 51% of the people we help are young people and older adults. Most of the seniors are on fixed incomes and most of the children live in homes with adults that have jobs, but don't earn enough to make ends meet every month. They often have to choose between buying food and paying the rent.
While HAAM relies on grants for the majority of their special projects funding, operations depend on unrestricted donations from people just like you -- folks who care about the health and vitality of our local community, our children and our aging residents. When you give to HAAM, you are giving to real people with real challenges, and real goals to create better lives for themselves and their families. You are also giving to an organization that has been providing Help and Hope to individuals and families in our area for more than twenty-five years.
Fall Ball was created as a "stay-at-home" event to give our supporters a break from the fuss of gala season. It is one of the many ways you can support our mission and help us help our neighbors in need. Thanks for playing!
