Yesterday, I received a message from a guy asking me to help a sick and starved dog that would not leave his property and was concerned for her safety. He sent me a video of her outside of his front door and she didn’t look good...so I said I would go check but without any promises.
She was hiding in the garden. She got up after she saw me fixing food. The swarming of flies surrounded her till she was going crazy. She was riddled with sarcoptic mange and smelled putrid. It wasn't until she turned that I noticed the horrible wound...that’s where the putrid smell was coming from.
After she ate, I lifted her and thank God, she didn’t try to bite me when I placed her in my car. To the vet we went...
The vet said she had an ulcer that got horribly infected and burst open and was left untreated for a long time; HW, Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis positive, severely anemic, sarcoptic mange, and overbred. So so sad...
My only hope is that Hygee will live to be happy...
Hygee will stay at the clinic for a while and we already have a foster home lined up for when she is released, because we are full now and all intakes have closed.
Please help her... please.
