Campaign Details
There are approximately 3,500 animal shelters located in the U.S. and between 6 and 8 million animals enter those shelters each year. Of those animals, 2.7 million will be euthanized simply because there are not enough adopters. Many people do not realize that 25 percent of shelter dogs are purebreds.
More often than not, dogs that enter our program require more extensive vetting than just a spay or neuter and vaccinations. Echo Dogs never denies intake of a dog in need simply because of a pre-exisitng medical need. Many of our dogs come to us heartworm positive, requiring a 3 month minimum stay in foster while undergoing treatment averaging $1000 per dog.
Some dogs come in with unknown medical issues; requiring expensive diagnostic testing such as MRIs, ultrasounds, x-rays and extensive bloodwork. Some dogs will require surgical intervention and lengthy rehabilitative services prior to finding their forever homes. Other dogs need ongoing emotional support and behavioral training prior to adoption.
All of these additional medical services required to ready our dogs for adoption cost far more than the adoption donations that come in. Echo Dogs relies heavily on the continued support of our adopters and private donors.
Please share your photos of yourself or your pet and join our community as we work together to replenish our medical fund so we can save the dogs who need our help the most!
All donations are tax deductible.
