Tell Vincent's Ear Tumor to Gogh!

Congratulations to the winners of Vincent's works of art! The drawing has ended, but donations are still gladly accepted, for continuing care.

Vincent has experienced another setback and is unable to have ear surgery at this time. We're working hard to restore him to health. He remains in good spirits, happy go lucky, with a bit of cattitude.

Updates

  • Update

Congratulations to Grand Prize winner Cyndy Bord, 2nd Place winner Linda Weitzman, and 3rd Place winner Janet Spadora.

Vincent is so grateful for the support he's been shown by all of you, that he asked us to award one more prize to a 4th lucky winner.

Debbie Mitchell's name has been drawn to receive a 4th Place prize, an 11x14 poster of Vincent's painting.

Thank you to ALL who have contributed, cheered, shared, and sent him your encouragement and love.

  • Update

Congratulations to Janet Spadora, our second winner of Vincent's art work.

We've extended the drawing by two weeks to allow time for Vincent to recover from his cold, and undergo surgery, while we raise the remaining funds. The final winner's name will be drawn at midnight July 16, 2016.  Good luck!

Please help us crowd-source to boost this to the goal line.

  • Update

Vincent is sad. He can't have surgery today because his chronic URI (kitty cold) has worsened. Dr. Koch prescribed an antibiotic and rescheduled in two weeks. Please keep sharing his page; the scans last week and estimate for surgery are higher than we originally anticipated, and we don't yet have the full funds needed.

  • Update

    Vincent is cleared for surgery!

The CT Scan reveals that the tumor does not reach the eardrum!  The middle ear has an abnormal appearance, but doesn't look typical of tumor.  It could be from fluid, or any number of things.  Radiologists recommend going forward with our plan for surgery.

Vincent will have total ear canal ablation on Monday, June 27. We're very encouraged and believe he will have many more years to paint and share his love.  Please keep a positive thought for him, and continue sharing with your friends.  We still need to raise the costs of surgery.

Thank you for your love and support to get this very special rescue kitty over all the initial hurdles.

  • Update

Great news so far from Vincent's visit to the specialists for pre-surgical scans!

The Cardiologist has cleared Vincent for anesthesia, finding no heart abnormalities. The murmur is strong, but may be the result of anemia, and that could be from the bleeding tumor. It's started to bleed a little more freely just this morning.

Vincent is staying a few more hours for the head CT Scan. We're keeping our paws crossed that the Radiologist finds the tumor is still operable, and are continuing our plans for surgery on Monday.

Everyone at Desert Veterinary Medical Specialists LOVES our boy!

We're halfway to goal.  Please keep sharing with your friends to help us get there.

Thank you for supporting Vincent, and sending all those optimistic thoughts his way!

  • Update

Congratulations to Cyndy Bord, the first winner of one of three prizes featuring Vincent's art work.

The final two winners' names will be drawn at midnight, July 2, 2016.  Good luck!

Please keep sharing with your friends, to help Vincent get the treatment he needs.

  • Update

Thanks to you, we're almost half-way to goal for Vincent's surgery. Pre-surgical scans are June 21, and surgery is scheduled on the 27th. With your help, Vincent will soon be feeling better.

Please continue to share with other generous hearts so they might have an opportunity to own one of Vincent's paintings.

Early Bird Drawing is in two days!  The first winner's name will be drawn Saturday at midnight.

We appreciate your generous support for our sweet boy.

Campaign Details

UPDATE:

The drawing has closed; donations are still welcome for his continued care.

Vincent is so grateful for the support he's been shown by all of you, that he asked us to award one more prize.

Four lucky donors have won Vincent's beautiful artwork!

He was unable to have ear surgery on July 11, due to a dangerous spike in kidney levels, and severely impaired function. He was hospitalized for several days, and is still under doctor's watch while receiving supportive care at home. Things are improving, but are still too high. For now, anesthesia is not possible, so the ear surgery and dental have been taken off the table.

We still don't know the cause, chronic or acute, nor how much he can recover. But we remain committed to providing him the best care and quality of life. It will take time to determine whether or not he'll be able to have his procedure in the future. Funds raised for his surgery are being applied to his kidney treatment.

We hope to put ear surgery back on the table in the not too distant future. Vincent remains a happy and loving boy, with a bit of cattitude; just the way we like him!

Vincent Van Gogh has painted a very special one-of-a-kind painting in all of his favorite colors, just for you! He needs to raise money to take care of a malignant ear tumor as soon as possible. Oncologists and surgeons agree the only treatment is total ear canal ablation, but a CT scan and cardiac ultrasound are needed first, because he also has a heart murmur. All are costly, and urgent.

Vincent's a funny boy who loves people, purrs constantly, needs to touch. He wraps both his arms around your leg and kneels on the floor, holding on in an attempt to keep you from leaving. It's the most adorable thing!

His intensely itchy skin has already greatly improved. But every day we watch him desperately scratching at the e-collar that protects the ear from further damage, and shaking his head vigorously trying to relieve the discomfort, as the tumor continues to grow and bleed.

Please help him get some relief from the pain.

Vincent needs $3200 for the image studies and surgery.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:

For each $25 you donate, you'll get one chance to win one of three prizes featuring Vincent's unique work of art.

Get an extra chance with a $100 donation. $25=1 chance, $50=2 chances, $100=FIVE chances.

  • Grand prize is his beautifully framed and matted original 18"x24" painting, entitled"Paws for a Dream".
  • 2nd place is a 16x20 unframed poster of the same painting.
  • 3rd place is a 11x14 unframed poster of the painting.
  • Every donor receives a mini-version (email address required).

An Early Bird drawing will be held to select the first winner's name, at midnight Arizona time on Saturday, June 18, 2016. Don't delay!  The odds are better with fewer names in the hat.

The bigger your donation, the greater chance you have to win one of these fabulous one-of-a-kind prizes! And you'll help Vincent heal.

The second winner's name will be drawn at 10:00pm Arizona time on Saturday, July 2, 2016.

Surgery was postponed to July 11 due to a kitty cold, and we still have not reached goal. We've extended the final drawing two more weeks.

The third winner's name will be drawn at midnight Arizona time on Saturday, July 16, 2016.

Grand prize, 2nd place, and 3rd place will then be drawn - in that order - from the three winning names.

Please donate for Vincent's medical treatment. With your help, we can give him a better life than he's had, the life that he so deserves and has been working hard to attain.

We ask that you share so friends and family don't miss this opportunity - Vincent needs all the help he can get!

Checks are welcome too; just be sure they reach us at the address below, before the final drawing on July 16 in order to be included in the drawing.

We reserve the right to extend the drawing date if adequate funds have not yet been raised. Additional time will be allowed for shipping.

ALF is a 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization in an area with the 2nd highest overpopulation and euthanasia of homeless animals, in the entire nation. We try to slow the overpopulation by sterilizing as many stray cats as we're able, and we save as many ill or injured cats from death row as we have resources for. Our medical costs are high, and many times the animals we help are not adoptable, and must remain with us for hospice care. Donations are tax-deductible.
