UPDATE:
The drawing has closed; donations are still welcome for his continued care.
Vincent is so grateful for the support he's been shown by all of you, that he asked us to award one more prize.
Four lucky donors have won Vincent's beautiful artwork!
He was unable to have ear surgery on July 11, due to a dangerous spike in kidney levels, and severely impaired function. He was hospitalized for several days, and is still under doctor's watch while receiving supportive care at home. Things are improving, but are still too high. For now, anesthesia is not possible, so the ear surgery and dental have been taken off the table.
We still don't know the cause, chronic or acute, nor how much he can recover. But we remain committed to providing him the best care and quality of life. It will take time to determine whether or not he'll be able to have his procedure in the future. Funds raised for his surgery are being applied to his kidney treatment.
We hope to put ear surgery back on the table in the not too distant future. Vincent remains a happy and loving boy, with a bit of cattitude; just the way we like him!
Vincent Van Gogh has painted a very special one-of-a-kind painting in all of his favorite colors, just for you! He needs to raise money to take care of a malignant ear tumor as soon as possible. Oncologists and surgeons agree the only treatment is total ear canal ablation, but a CT scan and cardiac ultrasound are needed first, because he also has a heart murmur. All are costly, and urgent.
Vincent's a funny boy who loves people, purrs constantly, needs to touch. He wraps both his arms around your leg and kneels on the floor, holding on in an attempt to keep you from leaving. It's the most adorable thing!
His intensely itchy skin has already greatly improved. But every day we watch him desperately scratching at the e-collar that protects the ear from further damage, and shaking his head vigorously trying to relieve the discomfort, as the tumor continues to grow and bleed.
Please help him get some relief from the pain.
Vincent needs $3200 for the image studies and surgery.
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:
For each $25 you donate, you'll get one chance to win one of three prizes featuring Vincent's unique work of art.
Get an extra chance with a $100 donation. $25=1 chance, $50=2 chances, $100=FIVE chances.
- Grand prize is his beautifully framed and matted original 18"x24" painting, entitled"Paws for a Dream".
- 2nd place is a 16x20 unframed poster of the same painting.
- 3rd place is a 11x14 unframed poster of the painting.
- Every donor receives a mini-version (email address required).
An Early Bird drawing will be held to select the first winner's name, at midnight Arizona time on Saturday, June 18, 2016. Don't delay! The odds are better with fewer names in the hat.
The bigger your donation, the greater chance you have to win one of these fabulous one-of-a-kind prizes! And you'll help Vincent heal.
The second winner's name will be drawn at 10:00pm Arizona time on Saturday, July 2, 2016.
Surgery was postponed to July 11 due to a kitty cold, and we still have not reached goal. We've extended the final drawing two more weeks.
The third winner's name will be drawn at midnight Arizona time on Saturday, July 16, 2016.
Grand prize, 2nd place, and 3rd place will then be drawn - in that order - from the three winning names.
Please donate for Vincent's medical treatment. With your help, we can give him a better life than he's had, the life that he so deserves and has been working hard to attain.
We ask that you share so friends and family don't miss this opportunity - Vincent needs all the help he can get!
Checks are welcome too; just be sure they reach us at the address below, before the final drawing on July 16 in order to be included in the drawing.
We reserve the right to extend the drawing date if adequate funds have not yet been raised. Additional time will be allowed for shipping.
ALF is a 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization in an area with the 2nd highest overpopulation and euthanasia of homeless animals, in the entire nation. We try to slow the overpopulation by sterilizing as many stray cats as we're able, and we save as many ill or injured cats from death row as we have resources for. Our medical costs are high, and many times the animals we help are not adoptable, and must remain with us for hospice care. Donations are tax-deductible.
