Monkey Dome

Help us build new spacious outdoor habitats for our primates! We are an all-volunteer-run rescue and retirement home dating back to the 1950s and currently care for over 70 residents.  These include former research lab subjects, unwanted pets, ex-performers, and others with no place to call home. We have chimpanzees, monkeys, parrots, and more.   Our mission is to provide special care for each animal, including socializing, enrichment, and regular attention from their caregivers.  Our current goal includes upgrading our animal enclosures to provide larger outdoor habitats with grass and trees to climb as well as being in larger groups.

About the Organization

We are a primate rescue and retirement home for unwanted, homeless, abandoned , and former research lab animals. In addition to several different species of monkeys, we have orangutans, and chimpanzees, alligators, parrots, and a tortoise. Our mission is to provide the care and comfort these wonderful animals deserve and strive to socialize them together as well as to provide the one-on-one care many of them crave. We also provide much needed enrichment for them to do keeping them occupied and mentally stimulated. Our facility started in the 1950s and our current goals include upgrading some of the animal areas to provide large, outdoor habitats with grass and trees enabling natural behaviors and socializing in larger groups much like they would be able to in the wild.
