Meet José! One of the first people I met when I arrived in the coastal fishing village of Puerto Morelos, Mexico 2 years ago. One of the kindest people ever. Every time I see him on his cargo bike I light up because he is like that, one of those people that makes you so happy to know them. A singular someone that shines brightly.
Rain or shine, we run into each other all the time on our bikes and have warm conversations while I buy my delicious 15 peso tamales. I know! That is less than $1 and they are home-made by him and his lovely wife, Antonia. Their tepache made from fermented pineapple skins is refreshing too.
(the photo keeps uploading sideways, but if you tilt your head, you'll see 3 of the biggest-hearted beings sharing a loving moment in the pueblo thanks to José's mobile business)
For about 3 months last year I didn't see him and I thought, "Oh no! what happened?!" He had had a heart attack. When I saw him again I was so relieved. The best hug!!
Now he needs your help. Surgery can save his life.
He is so humble and generous, yet needs money for heart surgery in Mexico City. Flights for he and his wife, medical expenses, and recovery costs are badly needed. He estimates $3000 to cover expenses.
Can you please help spread the word and contribute what you can? He is so very gracious and grateful, and he loves to work, but as you can see, riding a bike selling fresh tamales directly to his customers isn't earning enough to cover these expenses.
He looks forward to getting back to speed so he and Antonia can keep serving the community their nourishing food.
This is the season to give from your heart to his!
Please give to help keep his cargo bike, mischievous smile, and rico tamales gracing the streets of Puerto Morelos next year and for years to come!!!
Gracias de nuestras corazónes!
The video is in 3 parts. José está explicando su situación en español. For English speakers (I can't translate into more languages, unfortunately) he explains about his heart attack and how he is so grateful for assistance. Though he hates to ask, he really appreciates with all his heart and sends big hugs of appreciation to you caring people who will help him.
