Luna Needs Your Help

We urgently need your help!

Luna is a 23 day old puppy that was posted as free on a Lakewood sales page. Sadly, after having an x-ray done at our vet, it showed that she had a hole in her diaphragm and her intestines we're up in her chest. She saw a top surgeon at Red Bank Vet Hospital and will be enduring a very difficult surgery. She has an 80% chance of making it  and will need aftercare. This will be a big hit on our rescue and we can't do it alone.

This 23 day old puppy was posted as free on a Lakewood sales page. The poster stated if someone didn’t come get her within an hour he would dump her because she has an umbilical hernia. There were tons of comments of people trying to snatch her up. God knows where she would have ended up. Someone we know got the dog and contacted us for help as she was in distress with labored breathing. Sadly, after seeing our vet it was much worse. Luna has a diaphragmatic hernia which is causing her intestines to lay in her chest cavity, which is in turn causing her the labored breathing. She saw a top surgeon at Red Bank Vet Hospital and will be enduring a very difficult surgery. She has an 80% chance of making it  and will need aftercare. This will be a big hit on our rescue and we can't do it alone. Please pray that this little girl pulls through!

LUNA UPDATE: Our little fighter made it through her first night. Keep the prayers coming!

LUNA UPDATE: Luna made it through the surgery & will be in intensive care for the next 48 hours. All her organs were basically in her chest (her intestines, liver & even part of her stomach). Now Luna has to get past her diaphragm staying closed and her lungs not filling up with fluids. Luna still needs your prayers because she is not out of the woods yet. She might have to stay an extra couple days but the wonderful vet said she is young and hopefully will accommodate everything that has happened to her. Our little girl is a fighter and no matter the outcome we know we made the right decision trying to save her! Thank you to everyone who has been making donations to help save Luna and a big thank you to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital for giving Luna exceptional care
