He was shot multiple times

Urgent help needed for Joey!

We have received an emergency plea for help. Animal control in Georgia found a dog in critical condition after being SHOT multiple times. The bullets entered him from the backside and are believed to be in the abdomen after a quick scan showed free fluid.

He is conscious but in shock. He is covered in blood and falling over. He needs emergency life-saving surgery now.

We have taken him under our wing and have rushed him to a critical care hospital. We will do everything possible to save his life.

Please help us save Joey's life.

NYC Second Chance Rescue

About the Organization

In 2009, NYC Second Chance Rescue began as a small dream, founded on the firm belief that all animals deserve love and care, and that no animal should ever be subjected to abuse, neglect or homelessness. All proceeds go directly to the animals, and to date, we have relied solely on donations from loyal supporters. Our mission is to offer a second chance to those animals less fortunate — those with critical medical, emotional or behavioral issues.

Joey had a tough run; the damage done by the bullets caused an infection that led to sepsis, and Joey's prognosis was guarded.

It has now been two weeks, and Joey is officially out of the woods! And this boy is a wild one!???? We are always shocked by the resilience of animals who have endured the worst of humanity, and Joey is no exception. Joey is exuberant, playful, and excited for every day to begin. When the medical team took him outside to snap some new photos, he quickly jumped up to give them hugs and show off his beautiful face.

Joey will soon be discharged from the hospital, and we hope to find him a happy home to land in. He is 2 years old and passed his dog test. He is a young, playful dog and would do well with a dog who matches his energy. We have not seen him around cats.

    Love,
    Second Chance Rescue

Thank you so much for helping our boy, Joey!! You're amazing and thanks to you and so many other caring people, we've almost hit our goal for his initial care.

Joey survived and he is out of surgery. The surgeon removed one bullet and the other one went through and through.

He had major damage in the stomach and intestine and they had to remove part of his small intestine. His glucose levels and blood pressure are low and they have him on medication to stabilize him. He is also septic... ????

He’s closed up and they said he’s critical and not out of the woods yet... He also has a drain in his stomach and nasal tube for now...

Thank you again! This doesn't happen without your help. ?? We'll post another update when there's more to share.

    Love,
    Second Chance Rescue

P.S. Hopefully, law enforcement will find the SOB who did this, but we won't hold our breath...
