Scooter’s provides an adaptive riding program for children and adults who might need a little more patience, including children on the Autism spectrum, children with anxiety disorders and those with Down Syndrome. Scooter’s Place is neither a therapeutic barn nor a mainstream barn but somewhere in between, offering a fun and flexible, but structured and safe environment to learn in. We offer horsemanship education that teaches life skills, self-confidence, and body awareness in a non-restrictive and non-judgmental barn environment.
Our lesson plans change with each individual’s needs, as do the number of volunteers that join the lesson to help. We also understand that, with children with varying needs, some days are better than others. We will work with you to make sure we tailor each lesson to where the child is on that day, while still looking at the big picture of what needs to be accomplished. It is important that both the children and the parents enjoy their experience in our barn.
Scooter’s Place also gives homes and new purpose to horses who are looking to retire or may need to be rescued.
Thank you!
