Help Chonk to see!

Urgent help needed for Chonk!

Chonk came to us scared and anxious.  We didn't understand why he was growling and trying to hide - until the vet discovered he has cataracts in BOTH eyes.  Imagine, two years old and the world is a blur - how scary must that be to a dog!

PAW is committed to getting Chonk the surgery he needs to live his best life. Once he is able to see, the world is going to open up for him.

His surgery is going to cost over $6,000.  PAW is a small nonprofit that has limited resources, so we need YOUR help to save Chonk's vision. Please donate if you can. Every donation helps. PLEASE also share!! Chonk deserves to see the world around him.

Despite living in a world of darkness, Chonk is a sweet goofy boy with a heart full of love. Once he knows you, he is all tail wags, belly flops, and pure joy. He’s gentle, sweet, and LOVES other dogs.  When we found out that his world is a blur, we HAD to help him.

PAW's dog team has been working for weeks getting Chonk ready for his surgery.  Team members spent hours sitting with him so he would be comfortable with them transporting him to the doctor.  He has to get drops several times a day to prepare for his surgery and aftercare - and team members came every day to get him used to the drops.

We are so thankful his wonderful foster parents volunteered to help - people who love the underdog and are willing to take care of him.  The kindness and generosity of these fosters has helped make it possible for PAW to move forward with Chonk's surgery - knowing he will have the crucial aftercare that makes it all worthwhile.

His next step is the cataract surgery which will be done by a specialist.  Then Chonk has to be kept in a cone and kept quiet for two weeks.  He will get eye drops 5-6 times a day to ensure his complete recovery.  After two weeks he will get his stiches out, but he will still need eye drops and a quiet home for another few weeks after that.

Why do we do all this?

We can't wait for the day that Chonk is first going to see the world with clear eyes.   We know because of YOUR SUPPORT he will live his best life.  Some lucky family is going to have the joy of this wonderful dog and we at PAW are thankful that we are able to help him on his way to a joyful life where he can see the faces of the people who love him.

Chonk's expenses will be over $6,000.  Anything you can contribute will help.

UPDATE!!!!  Chonk had his surgery today and he came through with flying colors!  The doctor said he was "able to vacuum out a lot of debris and to place new lenses."  Now the really hard part begins as his fosters need to keep him quiet and give him drops 6 times a day! We may need to hire helpers when her husband is at work as giving the drops is a two-person job!  Not an easy task to keep a young, energetic dog quiet!  But hopefully Chonk will now be able to see clearly and start to get used to seeing the world around him.
