Medical care for SENIOR DOGS

The Helping Paw Project was established in 2013 in central Illinois to assist people who genuinely want to adopt elderly dogs, but who are hesitant because of unexpected medical needs, now or in the future.

For adopters who can afford the day-to-day costs of food, heartworm and flea preventative, and routine vet care, this program is available to help with the costs of those unanticipated needs. Your donations help these precious senior dogs.

Campaign Details

The Helping Paw Project actively seeks loving, adoptive homes for senior dogs that have been abandoned at high-kill animal control facilities and those whose owners are no longer able to care for them. We provide needed medical care for these dogs for them to live out their lives with dignity, surrounded by the love they deserve.

We established this unique program to assist people who genuinely want to adopt elderly dogs, but who are hesitant because of unexpected medical needs at some point. Older pets often require more veterinary care, which the adopter may not be able to afford. Dogs that have been abandoned at animal control facilities may require immediate vet care. For adopters who are able to afford the day-to-day costs of food, heartworm and flea preventative, and routine veterinary care, The Helping Paw Project stands ready to assist with unanticipated medical needs. We can only do this WITH YOUR DONATIONS.

Circumstances change. Even excellent dog owners can lose their jobs, and even their homes. A family member may go into an assisted living facility and not be able to care for their dog. A loved one may pass away, leaving no one to take in his or her dog(s).

Many people would welcome assistance in finding new homes for their senior dogs rather than facing the choice of abandoning them at a high-kill county pound. Area no-kill facilities are accepting less and less owned pets. ANY pound or shelter is far from ideal for a dog accustomed to living in a home. Being confined to a small kennel with minimal attention is not a good option for any dog. DONATE NOW. Help us reach out to the central Illinois community to help even more dogs!
