Some kind people in Waverly, IA have been feeding stray cats for years. The new neighbors have recently been complaining about them and the police have told them to get rid of them. The older kittens are all sweet and friendly. There are 7 females and 3 males. Next week I will get the 3 males so the females do not get pregnant. With the 15 that are outside, some are friendly and I will be able to pick them up and put into a pet taxi. The feral and semi-feral ones, I can trap, vet, and put on an approved farm. If the semi-feral end up just shy and scared, I will work with them to see if they are adoptable. All friendly ones will go into foster homes and put up for adoption. Today I already took one outside male to my vet and dropped him off to get started on helping these cats.

2/23/17 10 AM UPDATE! We work very closely with Compassionate Care Veterinary Clinic in Waverly, Iowa, and Dr. Keller just this morning offered to neuter all the males for free. Oh my, so grateful to her and how amazing. This will lower our cost to help all of these cats.

3/13/17 UPDATE: So far we have taken in 5 kitties. Monte, Morris, Deonte, Burton, and Chuckie:

Last week I took over $100 worth of Advantage over to the house since all the inside cats have fleas. Working on helping these cats the best we can. One or two at a time as we can fit them in. Thank you!

5/9/17 UPDATE: Took in 2 mama cats and their 5 babies. Kittens are around 9 weeks old. Will get everyone spayed and neutered and online in about 3 or 4 weeks! So far we have helped 20 cats/kittens from this area in Waverly. There's probably about 5 older kittens left to get, 10 semi-feral cats, and another mama and her couple week old babies. Would love help so we can get this accomplished before anyone else gets pregnant.

6/5/17 Here's the 5 kittens I wrote about 5/9! We really could use more help so we can pay all these vet bills. Thank you!

6/15/17 Two mothers are Rosie and Snowball! We have helped 19 cats so far. Have at least 15 more to go.

***************************

8/11/17 Molly May came from the Waverly streets, the SE part of town that we have been helping. She is the 20th one we helped. We got her fully vetted (shots, spay, frontlinem, etc). We gave her back to the couple feeding the cats. They are bonded to her and are going to keep her as an inside cat.

*******************************

8/12/17 Shawna came from the Waverly streets, the SE part of town that we have been helping. She is the 21st one we helped. She's a couple years old and will not have any more litters of kittens. We got her fully vetted (shots, spay, frontlinem, etc). We gave her back to the couple feeding the cats. They are bonded to her and are going to keep her as an inside cat.

8/12/17

So far this year Waverly Pet Rescue has taken in and fully vetted 21 cats/kittens from the same neighborhood in the SE part of town. We also have 10 more in a foster home waiting to be vetted. Also, one more friendly cat to get from that area, and at least 10 feral / semi-feral cats to trap and fully vet.

For a small rescue that is all volunteers, I say we are doing well with this project. We have vets giving us reduced rates, which we are very grateful for. We depend on donations to pay these bills. We are super duper far behind paying these bills. And cannot help more cats and kittens until we pay these down some.

It seems to be averaging $175 per cat for vetting. (all shots, deworm, FelV / FIV tests, spays. neuters, microchips, Advantage or Frontline each month, etc) So setting this fundraiser for just the 21 we have fully vetted already. And the 11 other friendly ones that need done yet. $175 x 32 cats = $5,600. Thank you!

9/18/17 Online as adoptable now, 3 more females! Iris, Skyla, and Luna! They are cats 22, 23, and 24!

********************

9/18/17: Cats #25 and #26 are semi-feral. Two females named Rosie and Kate. They were fully vetted and went to live on a nice farm.

#27 is Jack. He was a 7 week old kitten. Sadly he passed away even with vet care. #28 is his sister, Jill.

******************

9/25/17: Cats #29 and #30 are semi-feral. Two females named Molly and Maggie. They were fully vetted and went to live on a nice farm.

Cats #31 and #32 are kittens, maybe 8 weeks old. Female named Ireland. Male named Lanning.
*******************

10/21/17 #33 is female cat named Charlotte. #34 is a female cat named Misty.

***********

10/22/17: Midnight is the 35th one we helped. She's over 10 year old and will not have any more litters of kittens. We got her fully vetted (shots, spay, frontline, etc). We gave her back to the couple feeding the cats. They are bonded to her and are going to keep her as an inside cat.

****************
10/24/17 Three more! #36, #37, #38! We took in female named Gracie, and 2 kittens named Fern and Wilbur. We have probably 10 more to help! Only 10 left, whew! So 48 x $175 = $8,400. Please help us pay these bills. Think of all the cats and kittens we have taken and are now off the streets of Waverly. Next spring, the population in that area would have exploded with all the females having more and more kittens.

Precious came from the Waverly streets, the SE part of town that we have been helping. She is the 39th one we helped. She's a year old and will not have any more litters of kittens. We got her fully vetted (shots, spay, frontline, etc). We gave her back to the couple feeding the cats. They are bonded to her and are going to keep her as an inside cat.

*********************

11/2/17 Buddy was caught by the people. He was fully vetted (shots, neutered, frontline, etc). He will recover in their basement. And then stay in their house or be released back outside at a later time. We did have his ear tipped too so others know he has been fixed. He is cat # 40!

************************

11/10/17 Four kittens! Tess, Gemma, Finn, Moe. So this is kitties # 41, 42, 43, and 44.
