Baby girl was starved and sick!

Urgent help needed for Geri!

This sweet, emaciated pup was found in Detroit by a Good Samaritan. We can't imagine the life that led her to becoming starved and sick.

We rushed her to the ER at Oakland Veterinary and she remains hospitalized there receiving tube feeds and a life-saving blood transfusion. She will be watched closely for refeeding syndrome in the coming days. Her abdominal ultrasound revealed fluid in her abdomen, likely from starvation. She has a long road ahead of her, but we are here to fight for her every step of the way!

Geri's vet bill will be huge, but she's worth every penny. She deserves a second chance at life. Please help us give her that chance!

Geri is doing amazing! She was released from the hospital yesterday and a vet tech who works at OVRS has offered to foster her for the short term, so she doesn't have to come to our shelter. A loud shelter is no place for a dog to recover.

Everyone who meets her absolutely loves her. She has the sweetest soul and she is so grateful to have been saved and rescued.

    XOXO,
    A ReJoyceful Animal Rescue

Thank you so much for rallying with us to save Geri! Look at that precious face!! 🩷 Thanks to you and so many other amazing people, we are now only $400 away from our goal. ❤️

All things considered, Geri is doing really well. She has a ravenous appetite but they are slowly feeding her to avoid refeeding syndrome. Her hematocrit dropped a little more so she is getting a blood transfusion today and her fecal came back positive for hook worms, round worms and coccidia. They are starting her on meds to treat all that as well.

Hopefully she will be able to go to foster soon and really get all the loving she deserves.

    XOXO,
    A ReJoyceful Animal Rescue
