Urgent help needed for Candi!

Candi needs lifesaving heart surgery. She escaped with her life when rescued from a South Korean dog meat farm only to come into our rescue in the US and be diagnosed with a congenital heart condition that needs immediate surgery. Please help us help Candi by reaching our goal.

Candi's an adorable two-to-three-year-old, 8-pound Maltese sweetheart who deserves more than life has thrown at her. If she hadn’t been saved from South Korea, she would likely have been made into Soju elixir, a Korean spirit or been euthanized. Please help save her life a second time by donating to her surgery.

Candi took the 13-hour flight to American Maltese Association Rescue (AMAR) in Virginia on February 4th. We were so happy to give her a new lease on life. We vet every dog who comes in and when her veterinarian detected a heart murmur, he sent us to a cardiologist who ran diagnostics. He found that she was born with a heart defect called PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus) in which there is an irregular transmission of blood between two of the major arteries in the heart. Without surgery she would grow weaker and weaker.  Although most dogs with this condition don't live to a year of age, Candi has defied those odds and deserves a second chance at a long lifeThe cost of cardiologist visits, tests, diagnostics and surgery is $5000.  In the event we get more funds than needed, they will be assigned to another of our dogs in need of medical care. Just pick a square on the grid, make a donation and upload a photo or a good luck wish.

You may remember we had a dog named Doodles last summer who had the same condition. Her heart surgery results were nothing short of miraculous. She is doing great now; you’d never know she had a major health issue in her past. We’re hoping the same for Candi. It was thanks to donations we received on Giving Grid that we were able to afford that life saving surgery.

Candi loves to run and play with other fosters in her foster mom’s home. She's a little shy at first, but warms up to people once she gets to know them. She likely never knew love where she came from. Now she follows her foster mom around everywhere. This little girl deserves to have a happy, healthy, safe life in loving arms.   Thank you for caring and donating and PLEASE SHARE ON ALL YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA!
