THE STRUGGLE IS REAL TO STAY ALIVE!

15 years ago this month, I moved onto the property that had been named Daphneyland. 15 years of blood, sweat, tears, amazing stories, and thousands upon thousands of lives saved.  Monthly donors make up 30% of our budget.  So every month we hold a fundraiser to cover the difference.

This month we are honored to offer an opportunity for an AMAZING Basset Hound Quilt by Val Brewer of Hawaii.  This quilt is incredible, photos do not do it justice.

It is time to close this Giving Grid :( !  I want to thank all of you who have given so generously to help us try to meet our monthly expenses.  While we fell short of our goal, we did do very well because of YOU!  This Giving Grid will close on August 18th at midnight EDT.  I will get the entries for the quilt drawing ready over the weekend and we will have our drawing on Monday (hopefully).  I will post the winner through this email and on our Facebook page.  If you have any friends who love quilts and bassets, you might want to remind them they have only 24 hours to get a chance at the quilt!  Good luck in the drawing and again THANK YOU!

First ... thank you all for your donations!  If you have been following the Giving Grid, you know we are almost to the 50% of our goal milestone.  More than ever we need your help in spreading the word about how Daphneyland saves bassets' lives!

Just yesterday, we took in a 15 1/2 year old boy named Capone.  His owners took him to a shelter to be euthanized because he has a lipoma (fatty cyst) on his back and it had maggots in it.  The shelter said NO to euthanasia and we were able to get him to safety last night and we can now get him the vet care he needs.

To continue to save bassets like Capone, we need money to pay vet bills, put gas into cars, pay utilities and buy dog food ... and we rely on donors like you and your friends to do this!  Please take a couple of minutes and share our story and the Giving Grid with your dog loving friends and especially with those who also like quilts!  Our opportunity drawing this month is an unbelievable basset quilt made by Val Brewer in Hawaii who has Mariah, one of our hounds!

15 years ago this month, I moved onto the property that had been named Daphneyland.  Many said a basset specific rehabilitation center could not be done, yet so many lives were being lost in local shelters that we HAD TO DO SOMETHING! Thus "Daphneyland" was born.  15 years of blood, sweat and tears.15 years of amazing stories, thousands upon thousands of lives saved.

THE STRUGGLE TO STAY ALIVE IS REAL!  Month after month of struggling to pay the bills, to keep nutritional standards for the hounds, vet care, heating, air circulation, lighting.  Supplies. Man power, they all add up.

Monthly donors make up 30% of our budget.  Every month we hold a fundraiser to cover the difference.  This month we are honored to offer an opportunity for an AMAZING Basset Hound Quilt by Val Brewer of Hawaii.  This quilt is incredible, photos do not do it justice.  Each $10 donation gets you one ticket in an opportunity to win this quilt!

July is also the insane month of intakes.  Hounds that were scared and ran on the 4th are turned into shelters and rescues throughout the month as good-hearted citizens realize owners are not to be found.  We take these dogs in and tend to their wounds, both physical and emotional, vet them, love them, hold them, comfort them, feed them, clean up after them and sometimes even hold them as they take their last breath.  Daphneyland is home to 70 hounds, every day.  We also have several in forever foster homes, which require medication and vet visits!

Please find it in your heart to donate for the hounds! In addition to donating on this Giving Grid, maybe you could set up a recurring donation!  $20.00 a month is an easy goal, and if everyone that had adopted, or seeks help from Daphneyland made recurring donations, monthly fundraisers would not be needed!

Help us celebrate 15 years of life saving work, every day, every night.  And help us keep on helping the homeless hounds!
