This Giving Tuesday, we'd like to tell you about Maggie. Maggie and her brother Darby came into our care in September covered in fleas, full of worms, and with terribly uncomfortable skin infections. And as if that wasn't enough, we soon learned that Maggie had much bigger problems.
Fast forward two months and tons of testing, bloodwork, x-rays, biopsies and ultrasounds later. Under NEBHR's care, Maggie has had oral surgery to remove an enormous mass in her mouth; an extensive dental to remove 20(+) abscessed teeth; and just today underwent surgery to remove a large anal tumor. Soon she'll have a clean bill of health and can really start loving life, the way she deserves.
As you might imagine, this has been a tremendous expense for our small rescue . . . Maggie's vet bills alone are close to $10,000. But Maggie hasn't been the only hound in need this year. There's McGregor, who needed emergency treatment for bloat (and is scheduled for surgery next week to remove a huge growth on his leg); Ralph, who needed a costly a 3-week board & train program to work through anxiety aggression; Shorty, who required emergency hospitalization and subsequent biopsies; Cooper, who required eye surgery; just to name a few. Then there were all the "regular" things like vaccines, heartwom testing, spays and neuters. It adds up FAST.
Somehow, we always find a way to make it through for the benefit of hounds in need. Sometimes we look back and wonder how we got by. Then we quickly remember, it's because of you!
We know that finances are tough for everyone these days, and some of you are struggling too. If you are able to donate any amount at all, we would be so grateful. But if you're not in the position to donate, you can also help by sharing our campaign with others. THANK YOU!!
