2022: A Year of Medical Cases

2022 was one of our highest medical years yet! We need your help to be able to continue to support our medically needy four-legged friends.

Canine Cupids believes in giving all dogs a chance. This year we took in many new dogs, some of which we knew had medical issues when we took them in and some of which we did not. That didn't matter to us. Once in our care, our dogs receive absolutely everything they need and all of these dogs were given the treatments they needed. However, all these medical cases come at a cost.

Help us to continue to champion the underdogs and the medically needy. We need your help on GivingTuesday!

Campaign Details

November 29th is GivingTuesday. It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good and help others.

Did you know? The average cost of care for non-medically needy dogs is $285. Our adoption fees range from $175-400 depending on the age of the dog. In 2022, the average adoption fee was $299. Most dogs Canine Cupids takes in need extra care. Sometimes we don't know the medical needs of a dog that we take in. Once they are in our care, they can have kennel cough from being in an overcrowded shelter, undiagnosed allergies, old injuries that weren't obvious, etc.

This means that Canine Cupids cannot survive on adoption fees alone.

Star's Story - When we brought Star into rescue, we knew that she was diabetic and would need some extra special attention to figure out how to regulate it. After months of getting control of the diabetes, Star started to thrive, but we noticed her eyes seemed foggy. An ophthalmologist appointment confirmed what we feared, Star was going blind. She needed cataract surgery in both eyes in order to prevent her from going blind permanently. Star just underwent the surgery this month and you can already see the difference in her eyes, and so can she! She will be adoptable shortly, but her adoption fee will not nearly cover the $9,500 in medical costs incurred to date.

GivingTuesday falls on November 29th, four days after Black Friday and the day after Cyber Monday. We ask that if at all possible, you try to spend just a tiny bit less on those days, so that you can give a tiny bit to us. That’s all we ask… And this year, we have a match donation of $2,500 from a generous anonymous donor! So you can make your donation go twice as far!

We also know that some of you are struggling too, so if you're not in the position to donate, you can also help by sharing our campaign with others you think might want to help or even better, start your own fundraising campaign by clicking the button above that says “Fundraise for this Campaign.” It’s so simple.

Somehow, we always find a way to make it through for the benefit of those precious souls. Sometimes it almost seems impossible and we look back and wonder how we got by. Then we quickly remember: our miracle is you!
