Chella & PawtCake are on the Brink

We urgently need your help!

Please watch this awful video. It's not graphic in a bloody way, but it is both sad and disgusting. This horrific incident is the kind of thing that Chella deals with almost every day!

Now look at the photo after Chella and her team rescued this baby. This is what happens now; pure love, caring and help for these poor souls. Chella and PawtCake are their only hope on the island. Without them, they are doomed...

Now please scroll down and read Chella's own words. It's lengthy, but it's the best and only way to share what they do and just how dire things are for them. Chella is at the end of her rope, physically and mentally. They need our help!

In Chella’s own words…

"Yesterday, for the entire day I had been very sick. At midnight my phone starting receiving messages while I could barely open my eyes from the sedatives and pain killer.

On my filtered inbox I found an unseen message from February of this year regarding a dog that was being severely abused at the hands of a man. How did I miss that?

Today the man went again on his anger rampage and put all his anger on his innocent dog.

When the video was sent to me [shown above], not only my eyes opened up from my long sleep, but my heart broke in a million pieces. I covered my mouth, trying not to scream and in a second my eyes were blinded in tears.

The sight my eyes saw will never leave me…how…why…WHY??????

The lady said this monster abused his poor dog on a daily basis, making the entire neighborhood cringe in horror from the screaming of the dog when he would grab her by the chain and slam her on the hard concrete floor over and over.

I called my police friend but he was on an injury leave, unable to help me. I called the control center and with my friend we headed there, fearing by then the poor dog would be already dead.

The police patrol with 3 officers came with us and the man had no choice but to give us the dog. Even his own mother said how deranged her son gets when abusing the dog countless times, but nobody has the power to stop him.

The man also had another dog that walked out of the man’s yard and went to a neighbor, and we also managed to put him in the van almost at 3am.

We have contacted every government service available on the island to help us punish this man.

So Rocio, the sweet mom the man abused since forever is here with her son together…the man thinks he will still get them back, but over my DEAD BODY!

I took her this morning for X-rays and to my disbelief she has nothing broken. She has a long scar on the top of her neck and I was told it’s from when he cut her with a knife. SICK MADNESS!!!

For the first time of her life she slept in peace surrounded by my arms to comfort her while she slept to chase her nightmares…the trauma is going to follow her for the rest of her life.

I am exhausted…I AM BROKEN!!"

More from Chella. Again, we know it’s long, but it will truly help you appreciate what they do, how difficult it is and why they desperately need your help...

"Like everyone around in rescue, we are also going through very hard times; the cost of just trying to survive in a household has threatened the future of loving little souls that are being thrown away or dumped at shelters because they are all blaming the economy.

We are not bullet proof and we are about to hit rock bottom with our finances.

There is not a single day that I don’t receive calls from people. I don’t even know how they got my private cell number and they demand for me to pay for their animals medical, feeling entitled that we get donations so we should give it to them.

I will speak for myself. I work with 5 different clinics here in Nassau. The vets also call me so I can pay for the vet care of a dog/cat that the family cannot afford to pay, and without the medical attention they will die. I never once said no. The vets give my contact to the family so they can call and say Thank you, but nobody ever calls…not even one…and this has been going on for many years now. I am always the open bank account, when I am needed.

In my times of need, when I had been severely ill, not one person came here to see if I needed something, but when they need something, I better answer the phone for them.

There are close to 100,000 homeless dogs in this little island and it would take countless lifetimes for me to be reborn and continue doing what I do best…but realistically…I am also getting to my end. I am frail these days; my heart is broken in tiny pieces and I just live day by day, without an ounce of hope in humanity…isn’t that sad? I have seen enough!

I was not in a good state of mind yesterday for many reasons.

Late evening I received another call that a blind, starved dog was in the middle of the road and he simply would not move. I wanted to be mad at the woman for bringing more problems into my day, but instead I said to send me the location.

I drove there and found the dog in this nasty, ghetto neighborhood where they all look at me like if they have seen an alien and I stink. I trap the dog and I ask for help to put him in the car, but they all refused and they are laughing at me struggling trying to put a trap with a dog in the car all by myself.

A guy walks by and sees me and spits near me and spits on the dog. Another comes and finally gives me a hand, but feels so much repulsion for the fact this poor dog is inside and he asks for a disinfectant and he never touched the dog, just the metal trap. I secured the car and left for the sake of my safety.

The minute I arrived at the refuge the rain started and by then it’s already night.

I did not want to scare him, so I only fed him and let him sleep the night in the living room. This sweet thing was not blind…his mesmerizing eyes were so blue that knowing he had sarcoptic mange, I kissed his head, happy that he was not blind.

At early hours, we had the most devastating electrical storm and thunderstorms that made the refuge tremble, terrifying everyone, including my brother and I. But nothing compared to the fear of this poor dog that ran to hide under my legs. The storm lasted for hours.

I cannot imagine what his life must have been on the streets, with those heartless people that looked at him with disgust.

I remember the day when I moved to the Bahamas. I was a sweet angel. I loved life and loved my friends and loved others…then I drove this island filled with pain, and my heart grew bitter and I started to hate everybody.

My eyes have seen so much pain that I swallowed it all.

Please help us financially, before the end comes and we cannot help anyone else…Please."

Here’s one of so many reasons why we must help Chella and PawtCake. Look what they do!

This is before and after (just two months later) of a pup named Kayito, that Chella took off the streets. You may have even helped her…

Look at the metamorphosis! Two different doggies! That’s why we must help them!

We’re doing great and now we’re over halfway to our goal and we have a special challenge for you. We’ll be randomly giving away at least 10 of these super-cool special t-shirts to 10 people that have donated to this campaign, if we beat the goal.

If we beat the goal by a bunch, we’ll kick-in even more of them...

The way we can get there is if everyone shares this campaign with every animal lover you know, for the love of Chella and PawtCake Refuge.

Thank you so much for helping!!

    Big giant hugs,
GivingGrid on behalf of Chella and PawtCake
