Thai Street Dog Adoption Fund

$300 is all it takes to get a Thai street dog from a Thai shelter to LIFE Rescue in California for adoption.

This campaign can get 10 dogs out of Thai shelters and into homes in the US. Costs cover health checks, crates and documentation to get them on a flight with a flight volunteer, someone flying from Bangkok to Los Angeles, to LIFE Rescue.

Everyone can't adopt a dog. But isn't it worth it? For every $300 raised, a dog will have a future with a family.

Updates

  • Update

Lots of great news this week. Scamp has been adopted! Thank you, Tricia, for bringing Scamp into your home and family, and to Emily at LIFE Rescue for giving these dogs their only chance.

Buttercup, Scamp and Gypsy's sister, is now on her way to LIFE Rescue. She will fly later this week, and I know, will be so happy to be forever out of a shelter. Here she is yesterday, her last day in a shelter.

The last bit of great news is a flight volunteer will be taking 10 dogs to LAX in early August. Only 3 spots have been reserved, so I'll be pushing to raise US$900 by the beginning of August to send 3 dogs to LIFE Rescue for adoption. Who will it be? Clem and Darcy? Sabine and Hooch?

Please, spread the word, and thank you, everyone, for making all of this possible!

We are almost finished with our first full round, thanks to your kindness and generosity.  Gypsy and Scamp flew Monday from BKK to LAX (check out my blog, 2girls2dogs2cats.com for a full recap).  They are settling in nicely and will start looking for families within the week.  Below are a few pics of their tearful (for the volunteers, that is) farewells, and a few shots at LIFE Rescue.

Thank you, John Does, (I really hope the updates don't address you that way, but I can't figure out how to change it!) for making this happen!!

First, thank you all, for your contributions.  A lot has happened since posting this fundraising page, so I wanted to update you all on our progress.

After moving Castor and Pollux from their run where they have lived for a few years, they began showing signs of some behavioral issues that would make relocation a risk to their well-being and a potential problem for others. We decided to err on the side of caution, and choose two other dogs as our first two candidates.

Gypsy and Scamp have already been microchipped and their health checks are complete.  We have put them through a few more "tests" to make sure they are great candidates. Flight volunteers are lined up and they will fly in about one week.  Again, thanks to you all, we have enough for the first two dogs, and some to go towards the next two.

We have also decided to see the first two dogs completely through their journey before we choose the next two and start the whole process all over again.

Right now Gypsy and Scamp are responding beautifully to some much needed socialization and training.

Forever grateful and please keep sharing and spreading the word,

They may fly as soon as next week.  Again, thanks to you all we have enough for the first two dogs, and some to go towards the next two.

Right now Gypsy and Scout are receiving some much needed socialization and training, well, as much as we can do in this final week before they fly.

Campaign Details

2girls2dogs2cats in collaboration with LIFE Rescue and K9Aid International, are relocating Thai street dogs to California for adoption in the U.S. For every $300 collected, we can send a dog, now living in a shelter in Thailand, to California for adoption.

K9Aid matches the donation to cover the total cost of transporting a dog.  LIFE Rescue in Simi Valley, California, rehomes these dogs with families in the U.S.

We know everyone can't take on the responsibility of bringing a dog into their home, but for a small donation, you can help a dog, who had a very difficult start in life, find a family for the rest of their life.

Isn't that worth it? For the same amount as your weekly Starbucks/Stumptown/Peets/Philz fix?

Gypsy and Scout, two sisters now living in a Thai shelter, are the first two dogs selected for relocation.
