Campaign Details
First, almost all of our in-person fundraising has been canceled. Then as COVID started winding down, people started getting back to a somewhat normal life, but help for adoption groups like ours has been forgotten. This has not stopped AGA from bringing in Greyhounds whenever we can.
Fall 2022 brought AGA some heavy expenses. First, we took in a very sweet hound named Ameilia. It was discovered that she had a broken bone in her right rear leg. Over $6000 later, her surgery and many follow-up appointments have been successful, but hit us hard at the bank! AGA also participated in a program to bring in 3 retired Greyhounds from Ireland that were in need of loving adoptive homes. This too was around $6000 to import these hounds into the US, but even with elevated adoption fees, the expense to bring in these hounds was not even close to being covered. None of the previous expenses even include the other hounds we have brought in and cared for earlier in 2022, including 4 greyhound-mix puppies that we rescued after being abandoned alone in the middle of nowhere!
And to make matters worse, this new freedom for people lost us a bunch of fosters, so we're severely limited in our ability to bring hounds in with no place for them to go.
We're hurting, but our work can't end.
November 29th is GivingTuesday. It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good and help others. We're pleading for your help... We need to catch a break.
While we are so grateful to our community of supporters for helping us survive this long, we are continuing to struggle and unfortunately moving backwards, in terms of our expenses versus our donations. We don't know how much longer we can sustain this trend, but we can't stop saving the fur kids. Our work is too important, so we need to get through this somehow.
GivingTuesday falls on November 29th, four days after Black Friday and the day after Cyber Monday. We ask that if at all possible, you try to spend just a tiny bit less on those days, so that you can give a tiny bit to us. That's all we ask! If we can get enough people to give us a small amount, we can get through this mess.

Somehow, we always find a way to make it through for the benefit of those precious souls. Sometimes it almost seems impossible and we look back and wonder how we got by. Then we quickly remember. our miracle is you!

Austin Greyhound Adoption’s (AGA) primary mission is to find responsible & loving homes for purebred greyhounds after life on the racetrack and to acquaint the public with the desirability and availability of greyhounds as pets. AGA is an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff. AGA is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes as defined by section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.
