A Tragic Accident

Urgent help needed for Wish!

We received a heartbreaking plea for help from our friends at Manhattan Animal Care Services.

A 6-month-old puppy entered the shelter after being found as a stray. As if being a puppy in a shelter wasn't scary enough, due to extreme overcrowding, an accident took place, and another dog attacked Wish.

The fight left Wish with gruesome injuries. The most critical of injuries is a large puncture to his abdomen that requires life-saving surgery. In addition, his rib bone is protruding from his skin and is visible on the outside.

Can you help us save him?

Before we continue, we want to remind everyone that shelters nationwide are overcrowded. The staff and volunteers are trying to navigate through this ongoing crisis. They advocate and love these animals more than you can imagine. The truth is accidents happen, and fights are almost unavoidable when there’s barely any space to walk. We know their hearts are hurting over what happened to Wish.

We have taken Wish in to our care and he will be having surgery shortly. Please help us save his life this evening. He needs us šŸ˜”

NYC Second Chance Rescue

About the Organization

In 2009, NYC Second Chance Rescue began as a small dream, founded on the firm belief that all animals deserve love and care, and that no animal should ever be subjected to abuse, neglect or homelessness. All proceeds go directly to the animals, and to date, we have relied solely on donations from loyal supporters. Our mission is to offer a second chance to those animals less fortunate — those with critical medical, emotional or behavioral issues.

We want to update you on Wish. Last night, we asked for your help saving a puppy in a shelter who found himself in serious condition after a dog fight left him with gruesome injuries, including a punctured abdomen.

We are grateful to share that Wish was rushed to a specialty hospital and had surgery to repair his abdomen and close the wound. A drain has been placed to help remove fluid and prevent a worsening infection. The doctors feel that Wish is in stable condition and will likely fully recover from this ordeal. Our sweet angel is still hospitalized and could definitely use some uplifting words and good energy!

We want to thank each and every one of you for answering the call for help. We make a really amazing team.

The best thing we can do is support our local municipal shelters. They need us.
