Healing Skin for Pistachio

When Animal Control picked up Pistachio as a stray, he had some concerning lacerations around his neck and shoulders that needed attention. Our vet clinic got to work right away cleaning the wounds, but once they shaved away the surrounding fur, they found that it was much more severe than we initially thought. Some of the photos are too graphic to share, but poor Pistachio had inflamed skin with open wounds that extended midway down his back.

With a couple of weeks of healing under his belt, Pistachio is looking much better and making himself at home in his foster home! He is getting around well and has such a kind heart that is so trusting of the people trying to help him.

Thank you so much for being part of his healing journey! Your gifts ensure that Pistachio gets all the care he needs until he's well enough to be adopted and that any other animals who are sick or injured when they come to our shelter have the same chance. You are the reason we can save so many lives!

Campaign Details

Our vet clinic suspects that the cause of the wound was a chemical burn, since it was so severe. We made Pistachio comfortable with some pain medication and special bandaging and sent him to a loving foster home for intensive healing. He will need bandage changes and medicated cleanings while his skin heals. His fur will likely never grow back in those spots, but we hope to help him make a full recovery!

Please consider donating to our Animal Compassion Fund to help us provide care for Pistachio and other medical cases like his that we see every day!
