Teach a Kid - Save Our Seas

The North American Marine Environment Protection Association (NAMEPA) has created a K-12 STEM and NGSS enhanced educator's guide to the marine environment equipped with lesson plans, activities, and guidelines for effective teaching on environmental issues impacting our oceans. Our goal is to print and distribute this guide so that it can be accessible to educators, the public, and students. Funds raised will help us achieve this goal.

Campaign Details

Education is an invaluable tool towards the effort to preserve the marine environment. At NAMEPA, we not only work with marine businesses and government bodies, but also engage with the public and educators in order to fulfill our mission to "Save Our Seas".

We have created a K-12 Educator's Guide to the Marine Environment, which equips educators with the tools necessary to effectively teach students about the marine environment and the issues that threaten it.This easy-to-use guide was designed to provide maximum flexibility for educators in both formal and informal settings. It may be used as a standalone teaching tool or to supplement lessons in other areas, and includes lessons for students K-12 with a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) objectives. The Educator's Guide to the Marine Environment covers four key topics including ocean acidification, ocean exploration, the marine industry, and ecosystem health. Across all of these topics educators are provided with in-depth information, lesson plans, as well as fun and friendly activities for K-12 students.

Action now to educate our youth on the importance of the oceans is vital to the future of the marine environment, as it will be in their hands! The NAMEPA Educator's Guide to the Marine Environment has already been completed and is ready for use, however, we kindly ask for donations to fund printing and distribution. This last step will put all of our thoughtfully formulated lessons on the marine environment into the hands of educators, who can then spread this knowledge and together, join the effort to "Save our Seas!"
