Who We Are
We are a small group of people who came together out of a deep love for horses and people in need. We are dedicated to helping abused and neglected horses, educating the public about the responsibility of owning horses and teaching people from alll walks of life the value of bonding with horses and other animals.
The Problem
We are totally at the mercy of the weather. All evaluations, training, rehabilitation and teaching takes place outside in the elements no matter what the conditions.
Sadly, we are unable to save or help any horses between the months of November and April. When it's warm, the mud is so deep, we are unable to ride or do any kind of ground work. This also means we can't show horses for adoption. Then the cold and snow hits and it's even harder to do evaluations or adoptions. Please take a look at the pictures to see just what we are up against.
This is about more than just being able to save one horse. This is about gaining the ability to save MANY horses, approximately 20 to 30 MORE per year than we are able to do right now. That's a LOT of lives taken out of harms way.
Our Goals
- Build an indoor workspace to rehabilitate horses year around. It will also serve as our facility for Equine Assisted Therapy and Learning, specializing in helping victims of PTS and their families and also for people living with autism and other developmental disabilities.
- Improve existing stalls and build additional stalls to house more rescued horses.
- Excavate, field tile and re-grade the property to eliminate the extensive rainfall flooding issue seen in the pictures.
April 2, 2016-UPDATE-Thanks to the AMAZING generosity of four very special people, we now have enough funds to start construction on a new facility. Construction will begin the last week of June 2016. It will be small but highly functional and will allow us to rescue and rehabilitate horses ALL year around instead of only six months out of the year. We will also be kicking off our therapy program the minute the buildings are finished. There are so many people out there that need us and we want to help make their lives better. We are still short about $8,000 for the construction itself plus interior finishing (stalls, feed rooms, etc.) electric, lighting and water which will cost about another $15,000. The more donations we can get, the better and more functional our facility can be! With your help, we can do big, wonderful things in 2016!
