Giving Some Green for the Bassets

Every month of the year brings new hounds to Daphneyland and March is no exception.  We now have ELEVE new dogs that have come in this month so far & they all need medical attention! With the average intake vet costs at approximately $1200, we definitely need some help with the vet costs. As a special incentive, we will be offering donors one ticket for each $10 donation to have an opportunity to own a FABULOUS official Hush Puppy Rug.

Here is the GOOD NEWS!   We just made the 50% mark on our Giving of the Green Giving Grid!  Thank all of you for donating to this effort.  The not-so-good news is that we are still nearly $2500 short of our goal.  We took in a total of twelve dogs in the month of March.  One, Havasu Bud was placed because fortunately he is young and an arrangement with the shelter allowed him to be neutered and brought up-to-date on vaccinations at the shelter.  The other ELEVEN intakes all have medical needs ... as always, some have more needs than others.  But $2500 divided among 11 dogs gives us about $225/dog ... that barely covers immunizations and bloodwork.

So, what can you do to help?  We would appreciate it if you share our Giving Grid on your Facebook page and encourage your dog loving friends to give a little to help us out.  Each share usually generates about $35 in additional donations.  Just think ... if we get 20 new donors, we may reach our goal.

Time is of the essence ... these dogs need vet care and the Giving Grid is set to expire at midnight on Monday.

WOOHOO!  Only three days into this Giving Grid and we have reached the 25% benchmark!   THANK YOU SO MUCH!

When we started this grid, we had four new dogs in March.  We now have four more dogs that have arrived and we are now at EIGHT new dogs since the first of March.  With intake vet care at an average of $1200/dog our goal really should be $10,000 .... and we are only half way through the month.  We definitely to have our friends keep "giving the green" if we are to be able to keep "saving the hounds".  Please share this Giving Grid with your family and friends, who OF COURSE are also dog lovers!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY TO ALL ... MAY THE LUCK OF THE IRISH BE WITH YOU!

WOOHOO!  Only 3 days into this Giving Grid and we have reached the 25% of our goal benchmark!  THANK YOU SO MUCH!

We need to keep going to reach and surpass our goal.  When we started this grid we had 4 new dogs ... now we have an additional 4 for a total of 8 new dogs in March.  At $1200 per dog average intake vet care, we really need close to $10,000 for vet care for these new dogs .... and we are only half way through the month!  So PLEASE help us spread the word by sharing this Giving Grid with your friends and family, all of whom we assume are dog lovers also.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY TO ALL ... and let's keep "giving the green".

Campaign Details

We have had several bassets come to Daphneyland that have significant medical needs.  We would like to introduce you to them!

KING GEORGE came to us from the Bakersfieldshelter deemed to be "unadoptable" because he has tumor on his penis, a large growth in his mouth and needs 17+ teeth removed.  This old red & white boy has over $1500 in vet bills so far and still has a way to go to feel better and enjoy the rest of his life.

BRIAN also came to us from the Bakersfield shelter with 2 ulcerated masses which needed immediate removal and we were thrilled that they were benign.  He is to be scheduled for additional lump and bump removal, neuter and dental to be ready for his forever home.

BEASLEY came to us from Baldwin Park Shelter. Like most of our intakes, Beasley needs a dental and lump removal before he can be adopted.

HAVASU BUD  Having been networked from Kingman Arizona by Janis Wetherbee and the Havasu Hounds; this adorable 5 year old boy named Bud is now at Daphneyland. Quite the barker, he rides well and protects your car at the same time! Bud has been other dog tested and approved.

DOT & COOPER Please welcome these two sweet and well cared for 4 year old litter mates, Dot and Cooper. Due to some sad family circumstances, they are now looking for a loving home that can provide lots of love and exercise to keep them happy and healthy.

FONSIE & BEAU HENRY  These two boys came in to us together from street rescuers in Ensenada. The rescue team got them to safety and they spent a week with the amazing Dr. Juan in Tijuana. Fonsie is a sweet little poodle mix and Beau Henry is a basset who was covered in ticks and emaciated. Let's find Fonsie a good home and get Beau recovered and find the right family for him.

KORVAT - A 2 year old male, very shy being neglected in his living situation. Thank you Gisele for bringing him into us. Please welcome "Korvat".

ROSCOE - Roscoe, a 7 year old severely overweight hound was brought in today due to severe health issues. Lab work shows acut pancreatitis and urinary tract infection.  We are awaiting results of a urine culture now.  Fingers crossed for Roscoe.

BRUNO - Bruno from Peninsula Humane Society, labeled aggressive. This 10 year old gent needs a second chance at life.

LULU - Lulu has a long history of love and rejection.
Originally adopted from a Sacramento shelter, Lulu's adopter loved on her and then went to the bridge. She made her way through family members until landing in Ventura.
She has been happy in Ventura yet sadly, lifestyle changes happen and Lulu has arrived at Daphneyland. This 15-16 year old girl is just looking for a quiet home with lots of love to call her own. Will Daphneyland be her last family, or will Lulu once again steal some hearts? Arthritis is slight at her advanced age, yet Arth-9 will keep her moving as long as she wants to!

Please "give some green" to help us help these bassets fully recover and find the forever home they so richly deserve.
