Campaign Details

Stewpot Summer Camp was started in 1991. Rev. Janet Ott, founder, wanted to give the neighborhood children a safe, loving environment to call their own. With just a ball, a cooler full of popsicles and her children and friends to help, the Stewpot Recreational Summer Camp became a reality.
Most of our campers would be spending the long, hot summer days alone at home or in the streets if it wasn't for Stewpot. Stewpot relies on sponsors to be able to provide this much needed service to the families of west Jackson. Please consider sponsoring a child for $375 for Stewpot Summer Camp TODAY! Change the life of a child.

Summer Camp Day

Each day the children and teens meet on the front steps of Stewpot Community Center. Campers and counselors visit, laugh, sing songs and take attendance before the Pre-K-5th grade campers head to the "HUT" to begin their day, while the 6th-10th grade campers go to the Community Center.  Campers are served breakfast, lunch and two light snacks each day.

Elementary Camp Program

The program serves children from Pre-K–5th grade.  Camp days are filled with different crafts, field trips, sports, recreational activities, playtime, reading and more as engaged staff participate in every aspect of what the children are doing each day.
