The PVS is still going strong after 78 years, and there's only one reason for that:
YOU.
Our mission is to make concerts of classical and contemporary symphonic music accessible to everyone in our beautiful region, a region that encompasses some of the poorest communities in Massachusetts. And with the constantly rising costs of everything from rehearsal space to music rental to insurance, we couldn't continue to do that without the generous support of individuals in the community who value—who love—what we do.
Not many communities in the U.S. outside of large cities can boast an orchestra that has not only been around for 78 years, but has won three ASCAP awards and the NEPR Arts & Humanities Award, featured some of the world's finest soloists, and given world and U.S. premieres of symphonic works.
The PVS chorus has been part of the organization for more than 50 years, growing now to over 80 members, with an a cappella Chamber Choir as well. They make it possible for the PVS to perform some of the great choral/symphonic works, making our concerts true community events.
And four years ago, we added a youth orchestra to the mix, providing an opportunity for young musicians to gain the advantages that working together in an ensemble provide—listening, teamwork, responsibility, and more.
All of these efforts require time, talent, and treasure.
If you've read this far, then there's no doubt that the PVS is one of the many reasons you love living here.
Now we're asking you to show us your love by donating for Giving Tuesday, the nationwide celebration of online giving to the nonprofits who do so much important work in our communities.
It's easy, quick, and every donation counts. Please help us make this season successful! Donate here today!
