Hello Team DBMR! We are reaching out to you for HELP! As most of you know, we are a small 501(c)3 all-volunteer run organization that operates solely on your donation support, fundraising and adoption fees. We are neither city-funded nor grant- funded, and right now, we are in dire need of assistance as we are drowning.

We currently have 4 dogs and will possibly have a 5th dog in boarding with no "end date" to them leaving, because we do not have any available foster spots open, and finding new committed fosters has been a challenge for us. It is such a gut punching feeling to have one dog in boarding, let alone 5. We are a rescue that truly believes that securing great foster homes is critical to our mission; the successful adoption of healthy and socialized dogs. Sitting in boarding does nothing for them mentally or physically, and it is extremely costly as the fees add up as each day passes.

Our rescue is not known for pulling the "easy" dogs. We pull seniors, hospice dogs, and a ton of other medical type cases. We have had parvo and distemper babies, almost every dog we have pulled has been heartworm positive. We have rescued 2 dogs with broken femurs, several mange dogs, dogs with ringworm, fearful dogs and several with upper respiratory infections. With that said, it means a hefty vet bill is owed. We have paid down Callaghan and Dodd in San Antonio, and still owe the full amount at Forest Creek, and Aztec vet.

We are closed for intake and will not be rescuing any more adult dogs or puppies (until the 7 puppies we recently rescued are placed into forever homes).   Some may not like this or agree, but we have to be a responsible rescue. We cannot keep pulling in dogs while we have dogs sitting in boarding, it just does not make sense to us.

We were blessed to be a part of Tomlinson's pound for pound food drive for 2 years in a row, but unfortunately, last year we were not selected and that really hurt us in the pocket book. Not having to buy dog food enabled us to focus our money on vet care and boarding fees. We are a rescue that provides a crate, medical care and food for your foster dog/puppy. Luckily for us, we have a dedicated, core group of fosters that are selfless and understanding when situations arise and have offered to pay for their own foster dogs' food and supplies.

Please consider making a donation today, every little bit helps.  If you are unable to donate, please share our plea and continue sharing our dogs that are looking for their forever homes. As always, thank you for your continued support.
