Full Hearts, Empty Pockets

Urgent help needed for Kelsee!

KELSEE fought to live. We MUST fight to save her.

She was found in the middle of a road. Animal control thought she was dead. But somehow, brave Kelsee was alive. So they called the shelter.

Calhoun County Humane Society is BEYOND BROKE but, even on the verge of bankruptcy, we seem to have more compassion than sense. We said, let's try.

Our bank can't afford to say yes, but our hearts can't afford to say no. Yet our debt must be paid. PLEASE HELP.

    FINAL UPDATE

KELSEE'S LEGACY: 3 months of lifesaving

Before we look ahead to the coming winter, we must look back, with gratitude.

As we enter the season of Thanksgiving, our first thanks go to those who donated toward and shared Kelsee's struggle. Tho she was unable to win the fight, her campaign this July cleared shelter debts, filled empty shelves, and provided 3 more months of survival that she was not granted. Thank you to everyone, especially this little spirit. We hope you can feel the love wrapped up in this email. Season's Blessings to you and your families.

UPDATE:  KELSEE'S LEGACY Saves Bruiser's Heart

Bruiser's pretty happy for a fella who just got heartworm treatment...and he should be! His treatment was covered by funds raised on behalf of our angel, Kelsee. Better yet - he has a home to go to after recovery!!

Thanks to Kelsee, we have also been able to do many mundane, non-photogenic things like pay off the utility bills and the vet debt, and stock up on vaccines. That little bitty girl continues to make life-saving possible. Thank you ALL! <3

    Dearest Donors,

It has taken a long time to send this update. Thank you is inadequate. Our survival and Kelsee's survival were both in peril. Sadly, only one of us has come through. Kelsee saved us, but we were unable to save her.

Last night, Kelsee wanted food, and we were so optimistic. But this morning, she struggled to breathe. She was held in the vet tech's loving arms until she quietly passed away.

    Peace, brave one.

Shown with her in this photo are some of the recent neglect cases we will be here to help thanks to her, and thanks to you.

    Dearest Donors,

Words can't express our gratitude for your support. They just can't. We are a small group of folks in a hard-to-reach place where the struggle is real for animals and people alike. Our hearts are often broken, but we tape them together (duct tape CAN fix anything...) and carry on.

Today, you have each been a piece of that healing duct tape. Bless you all. Because of you, our mission can continue.

    KELSEE UPDATE

Kelsee is hanging in there.   The vet did give her a blood transfusion today because her protein levels were down, but that is to be expected with her condition.
All other blood work looked fine [a miracle!].  Her sores are oozing and the vet is worried about the infection but she is hitting her with everything she can think of to pull the girl thru.  The next 24 hours are critical.

Please continue your thoughts and prayers for our Brave One, Kelsee.
