Senior EBD Georgia's Medical Needs

This Valentine's Day, consider honoring your sweetheart with a donation to help one of our senior sweethearts, Georgia, a 10 year-old English Bulldog, who lived her entire life in neglect.

Now in our rescue, Georgia has begun the slow road to recovery.  She is experiencing a relapse which is both costly and discouraging, and Louie's Legacy needs your help to continue to provide her the treatment necessary to alleviate her suffering.

Campaign Details

Georgia is a 10 yr old English Bulldog who lived her entire life in neglect.  Bright red skin covered in infcted hot spots, pus-filled ears, feet painful from inflammation and neglect, ulcerated eyes and mouth-- these were just a few of Georgia's original stats when rescued from life as a forgotten yard dog.

It was tragic enough that a veterinarian recommended euthanasia if she did not receive immediate treatment.

Georgia DID receive immediate treatment and began the slow road to recovery.  Five months later, Georgia is experiencing a relapse which is both costly and discouraging, and Louie's Legacy needs your help to provide her the treatment necessary.

At a vet visit today (February 8, 2016), the sweet girl who loves her baby human foster sister, prizes snuggling on her soft bed and loves receiving the warm affection of her foster family above all else, seemed to be suffering intensely.  While she was slowly making minor improvements, Georgia's treatment has been a struggle. Her ears are again infected even after strong antibiotics have been applied, her allergies have flared and sores are beginning to reappear on her skin.  Georgia has discharge from various unmentionable body orifices and is currently being tested and treated.  Her feet are again inflamed and her discomfort is apparent.

She may need immediate surgery as well, as she has not been well enough to spay her, and appears to have pyometria now (a severe uterine infection), on top of all the other issues she faces-- a condition simply remedied made complex given the many other conditions she suffers.

In the last 2 weeks alone, Georgia's testing, medications, treatments and vet visits have cost $1,375.  We expect another $500 in the short term for surgery and follow-up expense.

This has come during a week when, in the New York location alone, $8,000 was spent on Georgia, two parvo puppies, a puppy with megaesophagus, two sick cats and another owner surrender pet with severe allergies.  This new year has not been kind.

With the help of our veterinarian, we are trying to outrun Georgia's illnesses so that she may have the quality of life she was denied for so long. We don't know that it will be possible, quite frankly, but your contribution makes it possible to try, and makes it possible for a dog who, until a short time ago, knew nothing but neglect, to experience kindness and comfort for the first time in her life.

Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue is a 501 c 3 non-profit animal rescue.  PLEASE help us continue to provide for Georgia and so many others in New York and Ohio by making a contribution and posting a photo to show your support! Our house is built on a foundation of all of the loving, kind and generous individuals who contribute by fostering, volunteering, donating and sharing-- and your full participation in this fundraising campaign will mean help for Georgia and the thousands of others to come this year. Thank you, as always, for your generous, heart-felt support.
